the country is in distress!

I had not said this before but yesterday was my birthday. I had a great time with my family, wonderful roses from my husband and son and fabulous present from my husband. Tomorrow I am off to Malaysia. There are many reasons that I should celebrate and be happy.

Dr M proposes: Bring back ringgit peg

(Bernama) Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed has proposed that the ringgit peg be reintroduced to lessen the impact of the global economic crisis on the currency.
He said the fluctuations in the ringgit value had affected the country’s economy and the government should not continue with the managed float of the ringgit.”We need to fix the value of the ringgit and I believe the government should do away with managed float because it will result in a loss,” he told reporters after delivering his keynote address at a seminar on “Development of National Institutions of Higher Learning” at Universiti Utara Malaysia here today.He said the peg would strengthen the economy and create structural changes in economy without depending on the model from western experts.

Yet more turmoil in Malaysia

Anwar was very active while he was in the university.  He was a student leader and then president of Abim,  committed to social justice and democracy.  I have two books about Anwar.  I do sympathise with him because of the suffering and victimisation he was subjected to while fighting for justice and freedom.

Rocket: Before and After….

I did say I will post the pic of Rocket oneday…

just a little update from what I wrote earlier, Rocket stayed alive the next day and gained its strength that it was ready for its meal. I did not know what to feed it. I called my father in law to ask. He told me to cut fresh fish into small pieces to feed Rocket. As I was doing that, my maid suggested I should not cut the fish into small pieces. She said: “Look how big Rocket’s mouth is, it will enjoy bigger pieces” I did that and she was wrong!
